The Ore Blood Curse
In Sif's creation, she had only known the warmth of her mother, Ymir. In her lonesome, Sif created the mountains, plains, valleys and trenches that current day Suvonnans and Voxarians call home. To fill her new lands, she created squat humanoid figures out of stone and metals in her own image called the Dwarves and larger figures out of rocks and stones that would later be known as the Jötnar/Goliaths. She breathed life into these stone figures and dug their home into a large outcrop of mountains for them to begin their newly founded life and free will.
As the years went, Sif's following diminished and her children began to leave the home she had made. The ones who left disrespected the young goddess's creations and plundered her mother's flesh of minerals. In the desecration, Sif saw pits torn into the earth. This angered Sif and she appeared among the inhabitants of the city she built. She called out the actions of her children and cursed the city dwellers that if they were to leave the city, they will become the statues that they once were.
Many disregarded the goddess's warnings and left for the surface. Doing so caused every man, woman and child to turn into statues of various minerals in varying amount time. Some families lived on the surface for years with a gradual petrification that plagued their bodies, others would petrify within a few hours. The sense of community seemed to be able to delay the petrification for the Jötnar, and would lead to them to pray to Lady Sif for forgiveness.
Seeing her error, Sif forgave the Jötnar and broke the curse on the Jötnar race. These Jötnar would go on to live as a nomadic race and tend to Ymir's flesh as once the Stone Mother had.
The Surface
Not all of Sif's children were inflicted with the Curse of Ore Blood. Those fortunate enough to have escaped to the surface did not receive the curse. These dwarves are seen as traitors to the Ore Blood dwarves and have resulted in wars beneath the surface.
